Course/Module description:
This is an introduction to the basic tools and concepts of contemporary linguistic analysis.
Course/Module aims:
To teach analytical tools and concepts for linguistic research in the domains of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and historical linguistics.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- define linguistic terms
- describe basic linguistic phenomena
- examine basic linguistic phenomena
- identify the building blocks of linguistic analysis
