Course/Module description:
The course is an initial introduction to the theoretical aspects of the historical research process. Students will get acquainted with the concepts 'history' and 'historiography' as well as with historical sources – their classification process and analysis. We will discuss the subject of objectivity as well as various schools of research in modern historiography. We will also concentrate on the intersections of history with other disciplines, such as literature, cinematography, sociology, anthropology and gender studies.

The course will provide students a first encounter with the research tools in history in order to develop critical thinking as well as assist them in writing papers in the Humanities. They will learn to phrase a research question, gather bibliography, sort and analyze sources and form an outline for papers in the humanities.
