Course/Module description:
The course is an introduction to the formation and history of the Jerusalem Talmud, its textual evidence, acceptance, the traditional commentaries and the modern research on it.
Course/Module aims:
Acquiring familiarity with the Jerusalem Talmud, its formation and history, textual evidence, acceptance, the traditional commentaries and the modern research on it.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Read and understand simple sugyot in the Yerushalmi, to understand its place and role of the Talmudic literature history, and to know how to use the reference literature, commentaries and modern research.
