Course/Module description:
The course surveys the history of art of the ancient civilizations that existed in the ancient East and the Mediterranean basin from the third millennium BC to late antiquity. first we will discusses the Egyptian and Mesopotamian cultures. And in the second part of the course we will discusses the Greek and Roman cultures.

Course/Module aims:
to recognize the development of art and architecture characteristic of each culture, with detailed discussion of technique, form and content of selected works. To understand what are the issues that occupied the ancient people and how they presented them visually in a wide variety of mediums. What challenges ancient artists faced and what solutions are found to express diverse ideas. Meet the artistic traditions that have evolved in the different cultures, and the changes that occurred in those traditions over time.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
to recognize the important works of art and architecture characteristic to every culture. Characterize, analyze, and contextualize a particular artwork to specific culture. Conduct a short independent research using basic reference literature and write it clearly and fluently.
