Course/Module description:
A course that presents students with the world of values and professional ethics, Including the main ethical issues in the social work profession and the models for dealing with them. The course combines frontal lectures with an open discussion and includes presenting ethical dilemmas from the students' field training.

Course/Module aims:
Understanding the ethics rules that require social workers while examining the theoretical basis of the values of the profession, applying values and the code of ethics to the treatment system and the therapists and learning ways to deal with ethical issues.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Understanding the values of the social work profession and the rules of ethics arising from them.
2. The law and the ethics – similar and different identification between them.
3. The ability to identify ethical issues in professional work and understand the difference between them and professional issues.
4. Familiarity with models for dealing with various ethical dilemmas.

Attendance requirements(%):
85% of sessions (absence up to 2 sessions)

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: A combination of lecture and open discussion with students (by subject of the lesson)

Course/Module Content:
Discussion + Lecture Introductory session. Presenting ethical dilemmas in practice to get to know the subject up close. Course planning. 1
Lecture Morality, Values and Ethics Recognition of Different Approaches to Understanding an Ethical Issue. Understanding the values from which the rules of ethics derive from. 2
Lecture Between the law and the ethics. Recognition of the Social Workers Law and the Code of Ethics, through their connection and meaning to the therapeutic work. Recognition of the relevant committees on the subject in the field of social work. 3
Discussion + Lecture Responsibility of social workers to customers - issues of ethnicity in social work related to clients and especially regarding the lack of discrimination, customer sharing in decisions and more. 4
Discussion + Lecture Limits in treatment relationships from an ethical point of view. Issues related to the status and power of the social worker in relation to patients. 5
Discussion + Lecture "Noises" in the ethical aspect. External influences that impair professional judgment, ethnic issues in a multi-professional team. 6
Discussion + Lecture Confidentiality as a central issue in the responsibility of the social worker to customers. The law and ethics rules on the subject. Examining the reservations for the duty of confidentiality. 7
Discussion + Lecture Multiplicity of Trusts – Understanding the issues related to the various trusts of the social worker. The encounter between personal values and perceptions and professional duty. 8
Discussion + Lecture The responsibility of the social service to the entire company, a clash between the values of the professional value, the client and the company. Ethics in sensitivity and cultural competence. 9
Discussion + Lecture The responsibility of the social worker to colleagues. When we'll prefer the colleague and when we'll expose his failures. Clarifying issues related to the status of students in ethically practical training. 10
Discussion + Lecture Ethic issues in various fields of practice – social workers in the shadow of the law, in private practice, ethics in the internet age. 11
Lecture Understanding models for solving issues of ethnicity. Analysis of the various approaches to dealing with an issue of ethnicity. 12
