Course/Module description:
The course deals with the documentation and analysis of trends, ideas, and key issues in the development of the social work profession and their place current and future practice.

Course/Module aims:
This course asks to introduce the students with the main issues of the social work profession. The course has several objectives: 1. The students will learn to analyze the issues that characterize the profession of social work in the present through observation and understanding of the historical roots of the profession. The goal is to understand in what way the roots of the profession in the past resonate with current professional issues. 2. Students will develop reflective thinking about their professional work, in order to understand how their professional practice relates to the history of the profession, its roots and its philosophical basis. 3. Students will learn to observe and discuss the issues facing the profession in the future.

At the end of this course students will be able to:
- To analyze and explain issues that social work deals with in the present by using the historical roots of the profession and through the philosophical and theoretical basis of the profession.
- Reflectively analyze their professional practice, linking personal professional issues that they face to broader philosophical and theoretical concepts related to the profession
- Understand the future challenges that the profession needs to address
