Course/Module description:
In recent years we have seen an impressive increase in the number and activity of civil society and Third Sector organizations in Israel and abroad.
The course presents a conceptual framework for analyzing various aspects of civil society and the third sector, focusing on civil society and the third sector in Israel.
The main theories of the field and the practical implications that derive from such theories are approached.
Course/Module aims:
To teach the main concepts and theories in the field of Third Sector, and to enable the use of these theories for a critical analysis of civil society and third sector activities
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Define commonly used terms in the field of civil society and the third sector.
Describe and contrast the main theories of the third sector.
Critically evaluate the main theories in the field.
Describe the historical evolution of the third sector in Israel, its structure, roles and activities in an International perspective.
Apply theoretical knowledge for critical analysis of third sector organizations and their activities.

The current structure and characteristics of the third sector in Israel and around the world in recent years.
Policy advocacy by third sector organizations.
Current trends in the Israeli third sector.
