Course/Module description:
The purpose of the current course is to introduce you to the core conceptions of qualitative research and enable you to learn it in a meaningful way.

Course/Module aims:

The purpose of the current course is to introduce you with the fundamentals of qualitative research and enable you to learn about it in a meaningful way. We will learn about the basic principles of qualitative research. We will learn and practice key methodologies of qualitative research, such as interviews and observations, and learn to analyze them using qualitative approaches. We will also be asked to understand the connections between qualitative research and the social work profession, and how the qualitative perspective can shape our professional selves. Finally, we will be asked to learn about ourselves and our personal lives through the perspective of qualitative research. I hope that your time in the course will be an enlightening and enriching experience, and that the tools you acquire will be useful throughout your academic and professional life.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. You will know how to describe and explain the basic principles of qualitative research such as "multiple realities" or "the researcher as a research tool".
2. You will learn to interview, you will learn to observe, you will learn to analyze, and various other qualitative tools.
3. You will learn to identify the connections between the qualitative research and the practice of the social work profession.
4. You will develop new insights into how who you are affects your research, and thus get to know yourself more deeply.
