Course/Module description:
The course is a link
between psychoanalytic theories and the practical therapeutic work in the field, focusing on the therapeutic process and how it occurs. Identify transference - countertransference and work with interpretations.
Course/Module aims:
Understanding psychoanalytic thinking – what it is and what are its goals. Creation of conditions for treatment - the therapeutic contract and the creation of therapeutic setting. Interpretations - how to create an interpretation, what and when to interpret. Listening to the unconscious world and fantasies of the patient and therapist.
Observation of the patient and his relations with his inner and outer world, with his conscious and unconscious world. Observation of the therapist and his relations with his inner and outer world, with his conscious and unconscious world.
Observation of the encounter and the process that takes place between the therapist and the patient within the therapeutic hour (transference - countertransference) and how the change in the patient occurs within the therapeutic process.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Create appropriate conditions for treatment, including therapeutic setting. To listen to and be able to identify the patient and therapist unconscious. to understand the unconscious process that occurs within the therapeutic hour, while listening to the direct content in the session. To understand how the change occurs in the patient within the therapeutic process. To be able to identify the transference – countertransference. To know how to work with interpretations, what and when and how to interpret.

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction:
The practicum is based on weekly therapy with at least three cases, with weekly supervision. The participants will write a diary of one of the cases throughout the year. Each participant will present two printed sessions in a row once a year. (they will not be sent by mail. The use of telephones and computers is not allowed in class) The sessions have to be as detailed as possible, including feelings and thoughts that occurred during the session and afterwards.
