Course/Module description:
In this course we will learn and analyze core aspects of the different “Masculinities”. We will then try to deconstruct the unique socialization to Manhood, which is typical to the “Sabra”, the Israeli Man. From our wide acquired perspective we will try to suggest a relational clinical stance, for the work with male clients in the Israeli welfare system.

Course/Module aims:
The aim of this course is to acquire a perspective to the emotional world of men, a world that is quite often left “unnamed”. And from that perspective to suggest some gender sensitive interventions.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1.Learning the core aspects in the study of Masculinity.

2.Acquiring tools for practice of a gender sensitive discourse about modern Manhood.

3. Analyzing and criticizing social phenomena from a Masculine perspective.

4. Evaluating the complexities and different challenges of Masculinity in the Israeli society.

5. Acquiring tools of thought and critique regarding a gender sensitive approach for the therapy of men.

Attendance requirements(%):
80%

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: - Frontal Lecture.

- Guided view of relevant media.

- A tour at the “Israel Museum, Jerusalem”

Course/Module Content:
The course is constructed of three clusters:

1. Deals with basic concepts of Masculinity in the modern era.

2. Relates to unique and specific aspects of Masculinity in the Israeli society, and its evolvement parallel to the Zionist movement.

3. Suggests core issues regarding a gender oriented treatment of the Israeli man.
