Course/Module description:
The current era is experiencing an age revolution that will change the face of society. It stems from the extension of life expectancy and the unprecedented continuing aging of populations. This course will provide conceptual foundations for understanding the dimensions of the age -revolution in our time and its implications for the future of human society. Among the course topics, based on the discipline of social gerontology - the study of old age and aging - we will analyze the individual and collective processes of aging, demographic aspects, perceptions of successful aging, issues of productivity and retirement, social exchange in family and society, health and disability in older age, long term care, understanding the interface between the environment and old age and examination of the contemporary movement to stop aging (Anti-aging).
Course/Module aims:
To present the great challenge that is facing most countries due to the aging of their populations.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Understanding the increase in the rate of aging and its implications.
- Information about the different ways to interpret aging trends and their correlates.
- Ability to understand the nature of aging in Israel compared to the same in different countries, and the ability to assess the difference between segments within the Israeli population.
