Course/Module description:
The concept of Personality refers to the unique characteristics of the individual, including: patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behavior. The study of personality focused on two main areas: (a) understanding individual differences in specific personality characteristics, (b) understanding how different parts of a person are working together as a whole.
The course presents a broad overview of major theories, methods, and empirical findings in the field of personality psychology, with a special focus on the mutual influences between individuals and their environment in the development of personality. Students will be introduced to the major theoretical frameworks, including psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioral, humanistic, and existential theories, and more. The course will foster critical thinking about theories and empirical findings. Students will acquire the capacity to apply personality theories in the assessment of personality in their clinical practice.
