Course/Module description:
This course aims to provide you with basic knowledge of Intellectual Property law.
Intellectual Property (IP) law is concerned with the legal protection of intangible products, such as technological inventions, cultural and artistic works, computer software, industrial designs, or symbols and logos used in commerce.
We will introduce the theoretical basis and fundamental principles of IP law, and cover the basics of various branches of IP, focusing on copyright, patents, designs, and trademarks. We will examine in detail the different IP arrangements under Israeli Law, while maintaining a comparative and critical outlook. We will also explore cutting-edge developments and the influence on this field. In addition to IP branches, we will cover complementary legal arrangements such as unjust enrichment, passing off, or trade secret protection.
The course will explore, among others, the following questions: What are the justifications for IP protection? Which intellectual products are protected? What are the pre-conditions for protection under the various IP branches? What is the nature and scope of such protection, and what are the exceptions and limitations to IP protection? What are the remedies for IP infringement?

This course aims to provide you with basic knowledge of Intellectual Property law, and its various legal branches.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
-To discuss and analyze a range of legal questions in the field of Intellectual Property
-To identify the various interests entailed in Intellectual Property protection
-To understand the background and theoretical basis of various Intellectual Property rules
-To critically evaluate various legal rules and decisions in the field of intellectual property
