תאור כללי של הקורס:
קורס זה יספק סקירה כללית של אי-שוויון במערכת אכיפת החוק .הקורס נועד להדריך את ה סטודנטים באמצעות סקירה ביקורתית של מחקר אמפירי ותאוריות על חוסר שוויון בכל שלב של מערכת המשפט הפלילית: החל מיצירת החוקים שלהפליל בין הניזק שנגרם על ידי קבוצות חברתיות נשלטו, ועובר לאי-שוויון במעצרים והאכיפה של חוקים, מקרה עיבוד והרשעות, גזר דין, מאסר ונסיבות שלאחר כלא.

מטרות הקורס:
הסטודנטים נדרשים להשתתף בכל מפגש, לקרוא את המשימות באופן יסודי ומראש, ולעסוק באופן פעיל בדיונים בכיתה. המטרות העיקריות שלנו הן להבין את הקריאה, לפתח תגובות שלנו לקריאה, ולהתחיל ליישם את הרעיונות האלה לתחומי המחקר שלנו.

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
סטודנטים צריכים להיות מסוגלים לסכם אזורים שונים של אי-שוויון במערכת אכיפת החוק, להשוות תאוריות שונות על הסיבות לאי-שוויון במערכת אכיפת החוק וביקורתי לנתח מחקר אמפירי על אי-שוויון במערכת אכיפת החוק. סטודנטים צריכים להיות מסוגלים לנצל את ההבנה שלהם של אי-שוויון במערכת במערכת אכיפת החוק על מנת לגבש שאלת מחקר מקורית בנושא של הבחירה שלהם שהוא רלוונטי לנושא של אי-שוויון במערכת במערכת אכיפת החוק. הם צריכים להיות מסוגלים לפתח עיצוב מחקר ולבצע מחקר מקורי שיאפשר להם לענות על שאלת המחקר שלהם. לבסוף, הם צריכים להיות מסוגלים לסכם ולסנתז את הספרות המחקרית הקיימת בנושא שלהם ולהסביר כיצד הפרויקט שלהם מוסיף למחקרים קיימים.
