Course/Module description:
The course will focus on counter terrorism theoretical models and practical strategies. We will discuss the phenomenon of terrorism worldwide and its goals, reviewing the criminological literature which discusses terrorism. Various theoretical approaches in the area of counter terrorism (motivation and situational opportunity prevention) will be presented using the Israeli model for policing terrorism as a case study. The course will include four guest lecturers who will present practical applications of the theoretical models discussed.

Course/Module aims:
The purpose of the course is to teach the criminological theories which deal with policing terrorism, as well as implementation strategies and tactics designed to foil attacks before they occur and deal with the terrorist event during and after the attacks

Course/Module Content:
Criminological theories dealing with policing terrorism, defining terrorism and its goals, the terrorist's rational choice, the treatment of the terrorist situational opportunities, treatment of the terrorist motive, advantages and disadvantages of each model, the Israeli model for policing terrorism, an examination of application and implications.
