Course/Module description:
In this course students will select a topic in Criminology, identify the relevant bibliography, prepare a detailed outline and, finally, carry out an in-depth literature review. The review will include the chronological development of research in the field, main perspectives, criticisms, a comprehensive summery of current knowledge and directions for future research.
Course/Module aims:
The main goals of this course include in-depth learning of the selected topic, as well as exposure to databases and leading journals in Criminology, while practicing academic writing and tying current knowledge into a literature review.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Search for and identify the bibliography relevant to a chosen topic in Criminology.
Summarize the chosen topic, including the theoretical and empirical literature.
Develop a thorough literature review on the topic.

Additional information:
This course is based on personal meetings, which provide gradual preparation for writing a literature review following the instructions of the teaching staff. These meetings are mandatory, and are one of the requirements for submitting the final literature review and successfully completing the course.
The literature review cannot be submitted unless all stages of approvals were completed successfully (approval of reading list, summarizing an empirical article and approval of outline).
