Course/Module description:
Youth violence course will focus on various aspects of the issue of violence among youth such as reasons for an increase in violence in adolescence compared to childhood, relationship in the family and its impact on violent behavior, youth violence, and social stratification, violence in schools, exposure to violent media and violent behavior, violence during entertainment, the relationship between situational factors and violence, and gender differences in youth gangs. Also, we will discuss issues related to Israeli society, including: the effect of the security situation on the youth crime rate, and violent crime among adolescents immigrants. The discussion will include a presentation on issues of theoretical models and research review. The last part of the course will focus on the recognition of existing prevention programs, various aspects of the Youth and treatment of youth offender. Course requirements: active participation and attendance 20% 80% Referat writing work.

Course/Module aims:
Understanding the reasons for an increase in violence in adolescence compared to childhood, Understanding the family and its impact on violent behavior, knowledge of the characteristics of youth violence and social stratification, the features of school violence, understanding the effects of exposure to violent media and violent behavior, violence whilst, understanding the relationship between situational factors and violence, and identified gender differences and youth gangs.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
The student will be able to explain the reasons for an increase in violence in adolescence than girls, recognize the family relationship and its impact on violent behavior, understand what youth violence and the impact of social stratification on violence. Students will recognize the characteristics of school violence and the impact of exposure to media violence and its relationship to violent behavior. In addition, the student will recognize the characteristics of the issue in the context of Israeli violence: the effect of the security situation on the youth crime rate, and violent crime among adolescents immigrants.
