Course/Module description:
Victimology is a developed field in recent years and is central to the academic and social discourse as an area of significant research that focuses on the victims of crime. In this course we will learn basic concepts in the field of victimology and examine them form a critical perspective. First, we look at the concept of victimhood from an historical perspective and from various theoretical approaches. We will discuss the victim's place in society in general and in the law enforcement system in particular. We will examine data relating to the victims of various social groups and focus on disadvantaged populations victims (on the axes of ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, age and gender) while testing their relationship with the system and asking questions about their (non) accessibility to justice. Second, we will examine researches on the emotional, social, economic and legal effects of victimhood in the personal and the social level. In addition, we will extend the concept of the victimhood and suggest broader social questions on 'civilians at risk, the fear of crime and the meaning of the discourses on victimhood of different areas. We will look at the history and development of the 'victim rights movement' and at social policy aimed at the welfare of victims of crime, and we will try to think together and suggest ways to improve the field.

Course/Module aims:
the purpose of the course is to Understand crime from the victim's point of view and analyze phenomena in Criminology from victimology critical perspective.
Identify and understand places of non-access to justice for victims and victims bare populated and offer creative solutions for change.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
We will examine and discuss various topics in criminology, and analyze them from the perspective of Victimology, focusing on the victim's point of view conbined with a perspective for critical analysis.
