Course/Module description:
This mandatory course creates a theoretical framework for GLOCAL students to approach the topic of “community development” from a power perspective.
The course provides a theoretical framework regarding communities, social change, and power, enabling students to understand the challenges and tensions inherent in creating social change and shifting both local and global power structures.
Course classes will combine theoretical perspectives of power and social change with detailed case studies of community development initiatives in different countries.

Course/Module aims:
To offer students of international development analytical and practical tools to cope with dilemmas related to community development.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. Students will display in-depth understanding of various approaches to community development, and how they affect different types of power and power relations.
2. Students will be able to apply these approaches to practical dilemmas arising in the field.
