Course/Module description:
This is a practical course (taught in two parts) designed to guide students in designing and preparing for their internship. The course is held every other week and provides students the tools and knowledge to identify and construct the best internship for them.
The course is designed to provide students with relevant background information and tools that will assist and guide them in the process of identifying, securing and preparing for their field internship. The course includes classes, personal meetings with the internship coordinators and group meetings.

In the process of preparing for the internships, students will be required to draft several assignments and submit to their internship coordinator. All students’ assignments should be submitted and approved by the internship coordinator by the end of June 2020, to allow the process of internships being approved.

It is each student’s responsibility to identify, secure and prepare for their internship. Glocal staff provides a variety of tools and assistance to help the student in this process. Much of the advice, tutoring and support is given in the personal meetings, but a lot of valuable information, essential to secure an internship placement, is given in class. This is a mandatory course and students are expected to attend all sessions. Initial personal meetings will be held in dedicated sessions and also during break between classes.


Course/Module aims:
– Students will identifying their internship goals and objectives
– Students will find suitable internship placements apply and create a joint term of reference
– Students will be able to classify organizations according to organization type, sector, field and approach.

– Students will know how to search for relevant information using a variety of data sources
– Students will gain the knowledge to produce Professional CV’s and cover letters
– Students will learn to create a professional Term of Reference
- students will learn to build a risk assessment
- students will learn to build a budget

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Generally speaking, the process of identifying, preparing for and securing the internship includes the following process:
Identifying ones’ skills, interests and networks
Identifying relevant organizations together with the Internship Coordinators
Having a list of 3 organizations which the student wishes to contact after Coordinator’s approval
Preparing a CV and Cover Letter to the prioritized organization
For organizations with past relationship with Glocal: internship coordinator contacts the organization with the student’s CV and Cover Letter. If no prior contact with the program, the student contacts by herself/himself following discussion and guidance
When an organization agrees in principle for the internship, having a 3 way conversation with internship coordinator and the potential supervisor in the organization to identify internship objectives and main tasks
Preparing a joint Terms of Reference (ToR) with the organization
Student preparing for the internship:
Learning about the country/region
Preparing a risk assessment
Learning about the professional field of internship
Preparing a budget for the internship
Documents: Health insurance, passport, visa, flight ticket
Departure on internship around August or early September 2020
