Course/Module description:
The first semester is based on frontal lectures on topics in productivity. During the first semester, each student presents a classical paper in class. In the second semester, students work either on an application of productivity or on developing theory, as discussed with the lecturer. At the end of the year, each student hands in and presents his research.

Course/Module aims:
Students will learn to read, understand and present a paper in the field of productivity estimation. In the second semester, you will learn to plan and perform research and to write a scientific paper.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Analyse an open question, design an appropriate model, test and validate the answers and draw reasonable conclusions.

Attendance requirements(%):

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Lectures + a number of home assignments (Semester 1).
Presentation of a paper from the literature (semester 1).
Research work (writing a paper and in-class presentation) on an open problem or an application (Semester 2).

Data Envelopment Analysis based on linear programming and Stochastic Frontier Analysis based on econometrics

Benchmarking with DEA, SFA, and R., by Bogetoft, Peter, Otto, Lars

Papers will be given to students during the seminar.
