Course/Module description:
The course will discuss the following questions: What are the differences between various kinds of international and intra-state conflicts? What are the differences between various processes of conflict termination (e.g. management, solution, reconciliation)? What is the role of the cultural – religious dimension in conflict inflammation and settlement? What are the role of narratives in conflict? What are the advantages and disadvantages of different mechanisms for conflict termination (such as forgiveness, TRCs, reparations) ? How do different paradigms in international relations and other relevant disciplines (Social Psychology, Communication) cope with these issues?
These questions will be discussed in light of relevant research from various fields and of current conflicts all over the Globe.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
At the end of the course the students will be able to compare between different mechanisms of conflict termination, to carry out independent research works, and to present their research in various academic forums.

Lesson1-2: When do we need reconciliation? The differences between different types of conflicts.
Lessons 3-4: What is the difference between reconciliation and other processes of conflict termination?
Lessons 5-6: The cultural- religious dimension of conflict and reconciliation
Lessons 7-8: Forgiveness and apology
Lessons 9-10: Compensation and restitution
Lessons 11-12: Truth and reconciliation commissions
Lessons 13-14: Narrative integration as a means to reconciliation.
