Course/Module description:
The Seminar aims to provide the students with methodological and analytical tools towards the writing of their research papers.

Course/Module aims:
To explore different research methodologies, identify difficulties in writing academic papers and deal with them.
To introduce the various facets of the study of Europe (Social Sciences and humanities).
To provide with experience in presenting research projects, and to receive feedback from faculty members. Exchanging ideas and knowledge with other scholars.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Identify obstacles with in the research proses in order to deal with them.

To engage and explore particular study cases within European Studies.

Distinguishing between different methodologies Humanities and Social Sciences

Identify their field of study and the relevant methodology.

Formulate a research topic.

Present their research topics, structure and methodology.

Developing a critical thinking and ability to formulate a thesis.

Write an academic paper (seminar, thesis, PhD Dissertation) according to academic standards.

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: The first part of the seminar will mainly consist workshop meetings conducted by faculty members and guest lecturers on various research methodologies, while presenting obstacles and ways to overcoming them. This part includes engagements with the humanities (history, philosophy, literature), social sciences (Economics. Law). We will also dedicate a section to the study of the Visual aspect (film, art). The second part gives the students an opportunity to present their research project, followed by a class discussion.
