Course/Module description:
Collaborative elective pre-graduate and graduate course for psychology and social work students, 12 from the International Psychoanalytic University of Berlin (IPU) and 12 from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI). The intensive summer course run in English is equivalent to one semester.
General outline : Academic historical and psychoanalytic syllabus; Semi-structured dialogue meetings; Encounters, and visit to relevant significant sight to the topic in both cities.

Course/Module aims:
Bring psychology, social students of different backgrounds (German, Jewish and if possible Arab) to study, analyze and discuss each other's views, knowledge thoughts and feelings concerning the effects of the Holocaust trauma and its effect on Israelis and German Students from different cultures. If possible, we shall try also to investigate it’s influences on the participants experiencing the Israeli-Arab Conflict. Psychoanalytic theory and it’s basic concepts will be the academic and the professional framework for this project. This program will provide the students with the best knowledge and terms to discuss and create dialog about the subjects at hand, both academically and personally

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
We expect that involving these two ro maybe three different parties and views, with the psychoanalytic input provides a more in depth unique discussion and understanding, and is the focal point of the project. We wish to create a true trustful dialog that addresses what is usually considered a "Taboo" subject and wrongfully so. We hope to build from that more intercultural understanding, discussions and friendships.

a. Basic psychoanalytic concepts regarding mental trauma. B. Psychoanalytic application for specific target groups. C. Historical perspective in psychoanalysis. Across generations traumatization. D. Reconstruction and working through of memories.
E. Treatment of the survivors “second generation”. F. The recollection of the future.
