Course/Module description:
Research in the lab explores the interaction between cognition and motivation in self regulation processes. We are interested in situations in which there is more than one alternative for what to feel, think or act.
How do we deal with such situations? how do they affect our perceptions of and relationship with others? we ask these questions form the broad perspective of social cognitive research.
Course/Module aims:
Students will be involved in various research projects in various stages - planning the research, programming and running experiments, analyzing data and writing up conclusions. students will be an integral part of the lab, will participate in lab meetings and will write a seminar paper.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
1. students will read theory and empirical findings about consistency in motivation and cognition.
2. conduct literature search
3. understand how empirical psychological research is done in the lab
4. constructing an experiment
5. analyzing data
6. drawing conclusions from empirical results.
