Course/Module description:
One of the main topics of study at the "Charming lab" is advice taking in decision making. We investigate how individuals use the opinions of others to form their choices. We focus on the conditions under which individuals benefit from advice, their trust. Recently we have begun to study the ethics of advice giving under conflict of interest. The main issues arising in this context include altruism, empathy, and the motives underlying social preferences (e.g., social comparison, envy, inequality aversion).

Course/Module aims:
The goal of the course is to teach students how to conduct research, develop theory, collect data and analyze the results, and reach valid conclusions.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Students will learn how to develop and conduct research in psychology.

Attendance requirements(%):
100

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Students will take part in lab work, lab meetings, planning and running experiments, data analyses and interpretation. Students will be expected to devote 4 hours per week to lab work. There will be weekly meetings on Wednesdays at 9 pm. Students could use this course as a platform for writing their BA seminar paper.
