Course/Module description:
An introduction to modern Japanese history

Course/Module aims:
To introduce the institutions, processes and people who influenced the rise of modern Japan since the Tokugawa Period up to WWII and the American occupation.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
To understand the institutions and processes which influenced the rise of modern Japan and place them within their wider historical context.

80%
