Course/Module description:
Reading the new edition of the Zimri-lim epic.

Course/Module aims:
Getting to know the genre of epics in Akkadian literature, through the reading of the Zimri-lim epic.
Familiarizing with the Hymnic-epic register of Akkadian
Going through the main stations of the history of the kingdom of Mari

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Know the main grammatical and literary features of the Hymnic-epic register of Akkadian
Know central points in Mesopotamian royal ideology
Familiarize with main points in the history of the kingdom of Mari

Teaching arrangement and method of instruction: Frontal, with careful preparation of text for every class

The Akkadian literary system in the Old Babylonian period
The genre of the Akkadian epic
The Hymnic-epic register of Akkadian
The kingdom of Mari from the times of Yahdun-lim to Zimri-lim
