Course/Module description:
Reading Akkadian letters from the Old Babylonian period (1800-1500 BCE). Discussing the language of the letters, their typical greeting formulae, and the information regarding daily life embedded in them.

Course/Module aims:
Consolidating the students' knowledge of Akkadian. Familiarising with the epistolary syntax and style of Old Babylonian letters.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Being able to read Old Babylonian letters in transliteration - without translation.
