תאור כללי של הקורס:
הקורס יתמקד בתרבות סוגדית ייחודית שהתקיימה במרכז אסיה (אוזבקיסטן וטג'יקיסטן של היום) בין המאה הרביעית לספירה ועד הכיבוש המוסלמי של האזור במאה השמינית. נדון במקורות הכתובים והחומריים על אודות תרבותם של הסוגדים ובציוני דרך עיקריים בהיסטוריה של סוגדיאנה. דגש מיוחד ייושם על ציורי הקיר כמקור מרכזי להבנת תרבותם ודתם של הסוגדים. נדון בהרחבה ברשת המסחר הסוגדית, ביחסים המורכבים בין הסוגדים, שהיו יושבי הקבע, לבין הטורקים הנוודים. נתייחס למושבות הסוגדיות בסין ולתופעה של אומנות סינו-סוגדית.

מטרות הקורס:
מטרת הקורס היא להקנות לסטודנטים ידע אודות התרבות הסוגדית, עלייתה ודעיכתה בעקבות הכיבוש הערבי במאה השמינית.

תוצרי למידה :
בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים:
להכיר ולנתח את מאפייני התרבות הסוגדית, וכן אתרים ואירועי מפתח בהיסטוריה סוגדית.
