Clinical and theoretical aspects of ADHD will be discussed.
Course/Module aims:
To be familiar with the definition and characteristics of ADHD, its underlying mental and biological mechanisms, as well as diagnostic tools and therapy.
Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
Identify ADHD characteristics
Distinguish between ADHD and other disorders
Critically discuss various mechanistic theories of ADHD
Analyze ADHD-related behaviors in light of different theories
Identify diagnostic and therapeutic tools

Phenomenology of ADHD: symptoms, co-morbidities, epidemiology and impact
Underlying genetic, neuroanatomical and neurochemical mechanisms of the disorder
Neuropsycholoigcal explanations of the disorder: "from single core deficits to multiple pathways"
Theoretical and practical issues in the diagnosis and therapy of ADHD
