Course/Module description:
In recent years a growing recognition of the importance of the role of social workers as agents of social rights. Social workers treat individuals and families who are coping economic hardship and social exclusion who are facing a multiplicity of barriers to their ability to exercise their rights under the law. Therefore, the capacity social workers to identify barriers to the access to social rights and finding solutions to overcome these barriers is an integral part of their professional expertise of social workers.

Course/Module aims:
The purpose of the course is to provide knowledge, tools and models needed for identifying the various barriers to social rights and the ways to overcome these barriers.

Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

• Recognize the basic concepts in the field of social rights
• Map social rights in various areas and identify barriers to social rights
• Recognize solutions and intervention methods for taking up social rights
